March 12, 2020 Message from BHP director, Kari Jo Fore, and the Bethel Highlands Preschool Board

Hello Families,

Our BHP Board members have had many difficult discussions over the last couple days regarding the Carnival scheduled for this Saturday. We have been consulting the county public health supervisor, the CDC resources, and the district of Hudson to help guide our decision-making process.

Carnival:

The public health department and CDC are advising the use of “social distancing” as an approach to reduce the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus (see the information and tables here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/downloads/community-mitigation-strategy.pdf). We have determined that in the best interest of our families and community, we will postpone the Carnival to May 30th.

The ATV raffle drawing will still take place on Saturday, March 14th at 1:30, and we will livestream the drawing on our Facebook page. Raffle ticket sales will end at 5pm on Friday, March 13th (or while supplies last).

Any pre-purchased Carnival punch cards will still be valid and honored at the May 30th event. If you would prefer, you may return the unused punch cards at the office for a full refund. The auction items will be held until the event in May. We will be in contact with donors who have donated time-sensitive auction items.

One of the goals of our Carnival event is to build community with an exciting and positive day of fun. With the rescheduled date of May 30th, we are hopeful to maintain that feel and have great attendance and support.

School:

The determination of BHP closing on school days will be dependent on the Hudson School District, as is the case with other school-based scheduling decisions throughout the year. We are in touch with the district frequently as they continue their discussions on the topic.

We appreciate your understanding, flexibility, and support. Please feel free to contact any of the board members with your questions or concerns. As always, our top priority is the health and safety of our children, staff, and community.

Thank you,

Kari Jo Fore and the BHP Board Members: Jenna Kron (President), Cindy Snegosky (Vice President), Katie Clymer (Treasurer), Mary Kochendorfer (Secretary), Pastor Ladd Sonnenberg, Matt Aubart, Jenni Ballard, Andrew Blattner, Leah Isakson, Jason Stohl, and Shana Weiss
