Great Geocahe Adventure

Great Geocahe Adventure

Sunday, July 19, 2020 - Saturday, August 15, 2020

Coordinator: Carole DeJardin |

Download: Download Event

This summer looks a little different than other summers and we aren’t able to gather for fun events as easily as other years. However, we can still have fun together in a distance sort of way. Bethel has arranged a Geocache Adventure for you to get out and about hunting for inspiration, treasure and adventure!

If you aren’t familiar, geocaching is a fun activity of hunting for a hidden object using GPS coordinates. Bethel’s Great Geocache Adventure is similar; 6 camouflaged containers are hidden in various parks and trails throughout Hudson, each filled with a Bible verse to look up, a little “treasure”, and a sticker to collect for your “passport”. Download & print the passport postcard with GPS coordinates for all locations—on it you’ll collect stickers as proof that you’ve found the treasure! Once you’ve found all 6 containers and collected all the stickers, you can mail your postcard to Bethel to receive a prize that will be mailed back to you. The first three families to submit their successful passport will receive a local restaurant gift card! All other submissions will receive a prize as well.

* Geocache Passports can also be picked up at Bethel Downtown during office hours, Monday-Friday, 9am - 2pm.

Bethel’s Great Geocaching Adventure Instructions

  • Gather the following items before you go:

    • Bags/totes/backpacks - Something to hold the items below and the treasures you find

    • Bibles - There’s a Bible verse to look up at each container

    • Pen/Pencil/Highlighter to mark the Bible verse

    • Passport postcard to guide you and to apply the geocache stickers you find

    • Hand sanitizer - Use it before and after each geocache location

    • Walking shoes - You’ll go slightly off the beaten path in a couple of places

  • Walk/bike/drive to the park or trail and enter the GPS coordinates on the postcard into a map app on your phone to reveal the location of the treasure.

    • The coordinates will get you close, but you’ll have to explore and look closely to find them!

  • Open the container and follow the instructions on it:

    • Look up & highlight/underline a Bible verse, take your treasures (one per kid/adult), put a sticker on your passport, put the lid back on tight, put it back where you found it, and sanitize your hands—we don’t want to spread any illness inadvertently!

  • Repeat until you find all 6 treasures!

    • Be sure to walk around and explore the places you go - they are all treasures themselves!

  • Mail your completed passport back to church to win a prize that will be mailed back to you!

  • Be sure to:

    • Take photos of your adventures and share them with us! Tag us on Facebook & Instagram.

    • Visit org for extra help, photos, and an introductory video.

    • Contact Thomas Newell ( ) if a container seems to be missing or is empty.
