LENTEN DEVOTIONALS 2018

Day 34 - Monday, March 19

Posted by Lacey Nolan on

The rumors have been around for a while now, but that’s all they were—rumors. My (company) firm whom I admire and have always referred to themselves as a “family” brought in a consultant to do some downsizing. Those rumors became reality last week when a good friend of mine, who has dedicated so much time, talent, and loyalty to the firm was let go, along with her co-worker. We aren’t a large corporation, so the lay-off of two well-respected, long standing employees is a big deal. It was in that moment I realized this is a reality, and I should be examining my position.

As a full-time working mother with two young children, it’s distressing to think that our family could lose half of our income. The firm that I’ve dedicated myself to and have been proud to be a part of has disappointed me by doing this to my “family”. It’s not easy to go to work every day wondering “Who’s next? Will it be me?” Productivity across the company is down, as are spirits.

While it’s discouraging to wonder if the future I imagined may not become a reality, I must place all my faith in the Lord. For according to Jeremiah 29:11, only He knows the plans He has for me. If it’s not what I imagined, so be it, for He knows best. I know that if I put all my trust and faith in God, he will provide and guide me on the right path.

Prayer: Lord, Help me to practice forgiveness during this time of transition and to trust in you and the plan you have for me. I pray that you strengthen everyone that is going through a challenging time in their lives, and help them to seek you and your guidance. Amen
