LENTEN DEVOTIONS 2019

Lenten Devotion Day 8 - Wednesday, March 13, 2019

Posted by Monique Hall on

“Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks the door will be opened.”  Matthew 7:7-8

I was raised Catholic, went to weekly religion classes and Mass on Sundays. I listened to the priests and nuns, did my CCD homework but never really felt God’s presence in my life.  In my 20s I stopped attending church and wasn’t really sure I believed in God.

In my 30s, with life not going the way I had hoped, I decided to return to the church and become more open to God’s presence in my life. It was a slow process with a lot of starts and stops.

After several miscarriages and the heartache associated with them, I turned to God for his help. Help with my questions, help to heal my sadness and help to find a way to bring a child into our lives. Over the next few years my husband and I were blessed with two beautiful children.

Many doors began to open for me when I finally started to ask, search and knock.  The answers, outcomes or opportunities I’ve received aren’t always what I hoped for but I believe that God is listening and helping to guide me on my life’s journey.

Prayer:  Lord, help us to remember to turn to you to ask, search and knock, rather than trying to do everything on our own. Amen.
