LENTEN DEVOTIONALS 2018

Day 29 - Wednesday, March 14

Posted by Cynthia Lynn on

I am the Lord, your God, who holds your right hand, and I tell you ‘Don’t be afraid, I will help you.                                                Isaiah 41:13

Out of the blue, never saw that coming. How could this happen? Surprise! Life just changed course again. What a perfect life we had, and then the diagnosis and my beloved Roger died twelve weeks later. Now what? First, the gut crushing grief, anger, and bewilderment. Nothing has changed, yet everything is different. My grief is no more special or important than anyone else who has suffered a loss, but it is mine. Now, what to do with it. When everything in life is going smoothly, isn’t God great? When everything as you know it falls apart, God is still great. Here’s where faith takes over. Even though this horrible disease took my Roger, I know for sure that I’m not walking alone; God is walking every step with me and gently holding my hand. I know this because I’ve felt it. Life is for the living, so make the most of it.

Prayer: My heavenly Father, another mourning moment to ask you for your strength to keep me moving forward. Even though I’ve lost my love, you just keep the blessings raining down on me. Please give me strength and a grateful heart for all that we had, and let me be a blessing to others when they need comfort in their grief. Amen.
