Lenten Devotionals 2020

Lenten Devotional, Day 15, Wednesday, March 11, 2020

“So do not fear for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous hand.” Isaiah 41:10

April 2017. That was one of the scariest months/years of our family’s life. Luke and I had been married 13 years and had three healthy, happy, and amazing boys. Life was moving along just as it should, and then a doctor visit changed everything. I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The worst part of a cancer diagnosis is waiting for the results to determine your course of treatment. Your life flashes before your eyes and you realize you really are not in control.

Then God steps in. He knew exactly what we needed. The doctors and nurses that he put in our path filled us with hope and helped us make tough decisions. Many people in our path had personal experiences with breast cancer. There is nothing like having someone on your side that has been through it and understands what you are feeling. If ever you are struggling, you should find others that have been through similar experiences and spend time with them.

The next place God stepped in was with our family and friends. They came and lifted us right up. They took care of everything. I have no idea how they did it, because they all have families of their own. Through God’s love, they helped us and it meant the world to us. We live in an amazing community filled with really loving and caring people.

Almost 3 years later, we have a closer relationship to God and thirst for his direction in our lives.

Prayer: Dear God, Thank You for carrying our family through this time of struggle. Thank You for always knowing our hearts and what we need. Thank You for the people that You put in our paths each day. Help us always to recognize and see Your gifts and grow with them. Amen

*Important side note* Please know your body and when something is not right have it checked out. The key to addressing cancer is early detection.
