Lenten Devotionals 2020

Lenten Devotional, Day 5 | Sunday, March 1, 2020

Posted by Sue Caldwell on

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”   - Hebrews 11:1

F - Forgiveness

A - Assurance

I - Inclusiveness

T - Trinity

H- Hope, Heaven

Forgiveness: I am forgiven of my sins because God so loved me that he sent his son, Jesus, who made the ultimate sacrifice of death on the cross.  There is no greater love than this.

Assurance: I have the assurance that God will always be with me under all circumstances and conditions.

Inclusiveness: Jesus was inclusive of all people.  He did not exclude anyone and we are to follow His example.

Trinity: I find understanding/explaining the Trinity very difficult.  I believe God to be the source of creation, the giver of life.  I believe He revealed himself to man in the form of Jesus, the Messiah-Redeemer.  In the Upper Room, on the eve of His crucifixion, Jesus told the disciples that God would send the Holy Spirit to teach and guide.  I think of the Holy Spirit as God in action, God reaching people—influencing and guiding them.

Hope, Heaven: Because of Jesus’ resurrection we have hope for life beyond death.  I don’t know what heaven will be like because now I see in a mirror dimly and know only in part.  But God created this wonderful world and I am sure He will provide for me after death.  This I accept on faith.

Prayer:  Lord, keep our faith strong. Help us remember that worry looks around, but faith looks up. Help us seek Your will, share Your love and do Your good works. Amen
