Lenten Devotionals 2020

Lenten Devotional, Day 7, Tuesday, March 3, 2020

“If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31

August 7th, I spent the day with friends on the lake and then went out for dinner. At dinner I got a text that my friend Bailey had passed away. At that moment I felt like the whole world had collapsed on top of me. How could God let something like this happen? Is God even real if he let something like this happen? Why. Why. Why. We went to her home that night to support her family, and witnessed a tremendous amount of love and support from the members of our community. Everyone I knew was there grieving. We prayed together, but it didn’t feel like God was listening.

Later that night I wasn’t able to sleep. I thought of a verse that I knew by heart. Romans 8:31. It reminded me that God is real and He is the King of Kings, who is on our side. So I constantly remind myself, if God is for us, who can be against us.

God’s plan may not make sense, but it will work out. Through losing a friend, I’ve been taught the most important lesson in my life. God never fails to be there for you. Through all the bad and through all the good, He is there, even when it doesn’t seem like it.

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for never failing to be there when we need You, and even when we think we don’t. Please remind us always, that You DO have a plan for us, and that You’re always FOR us. You are our King, someone who will be with us always,  and with You on our side, we are able to conquer anything. Amen.
