“So do not fear, I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
I have always gone to church and prayed yet I found myself searching for answers and not really finding them. I had been blessed with a family including three kids but something just seemed to be missing. I didn’t really feel HIS presence in my life. This changed in 2010 and I am reminded constantly of HIS presence in my life since that day. In May 2010, my grandmother, dad’s mother, passed away. It was just a couple weeks after her passing that we learned from the doctors that there was nothing else that could be done for my dad who was battling his second round of cancer. He was placed on hospice in the comforts of his home so family could surround him in his last days here on earth. I spent as much time as I could with him.
One evening he became very restless as if he was struggling or fighting something off and we could hear him mumbling what sounded like “Ma I am not ready yet”. Several family members were there and heard this and we all knew that his mom was there trying to guide him to his heavenly home but he just didn’t seem like he was quite ready yet. A couple of days had past and most of his sisters, brothers all came and said their good byes along with the rest of the family. Then there was the situation which is hard to describe, but there was a sense of warmth and peace in the room and we all watched my dad reach out his arms as though he was taking the hands of the angles to guide him to his heavenly home. He then fell in a deeper sleep. It was at that moment that I could feel HIS presence all around. My dad passed the next morning but I was comforted knowing that he had made it to his heavenly home.
Throughout this experience it made me realized that God’s presence in my life is an amazing thing. Sometimes things happen for a reason and don’t always make sense but in Prayer I believe that God has a plan for all of us.
Prayer: Dear God, Thank you for showing me your presence in my time of need. Be with those who are searching themselves to get answers. Thank you for the promise of everlasting life and a great reunion we will all face when we see our love ones once again.
