LENTEN DEVOTIONAL, DAY 11, SATURDAY, MARCH 12, 2022

Posted by Gwen Cossin on

After all, "The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?"

Psalm 27:1

My mom writes Proverbs 3:5-6 on every card I’ve ever received from her. Since losing my dad a decade ago, she’s been the beacon I turn to here on earth when times are troubled and decisions need to be made. She builds me up, and is my forever cheerleader. Luckily for me, she’s got her eyes on our Lord and knows my path will be made straight through my faith in Christ.

Throughout my life she’s reminded me that my purpose is to shine the light of Christ, and do His will. When I wasn’t sure what God’s will was for my life, she reminded me to lean on the gifts and talents He’s given uniquely to me. Open the door. Let God lead. Take one step. Trust Him to find the words to say. Find strength in Him to forgive others as He has forgiven me. Give grace and show mercy to others.

They asked Him what commandment is the most important? The answer recorded in the Gospels was simple, 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” (Gospel of Mark)

When we find it hard to love others, remember we diminish ourselves to say we love God when we don’t love our neighbors. Love God, Love People. This is His plan. He is the God of love. We are His hands and feet. Give freely of yourselves to others.

Thank you, mom, for making His will so clear for me. Let us all set our eyes on our Lord this day and every day.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us your Son. Please help us to discern our goal for today. Tomorrow help us discern our goal for Tomorrow. Keep Your light on us and save us from fear. Help us to be the Light that draws others to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
