LENTEN DEVOTIONAL, DAY 32, SATURDAY, April 2, 2022

Posted by Spencer Banaszynski on

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28

This winter has been difficult for me, as stress from school, sports, and work has built up. Many nights, I haven’t been able to sleep, and look too far into the future instead of focusing on the present. However, I have kept strong in my faith through it all, for although God’s plans and messages can be subtle and difficult to decipher, I know that He always has a reason for them.

Whenever I have felt pressure from school, work, sports, or relationships, I have looked to God to guide me through. This past week, I tested positive for Covid-19, and couldn’t go to school, practice, or work for a week. It was the exact refreshing and cleansing experience that I needed to keep pushing myself. The people who care about me, coaches, teachers, friends, and family; all helped me to stay caught up and wanted me to rest and get better.

Even though it didn’t make my body feel great, a week off was the perfect rest period for my mind. I truly believe that this was a gift from God, as He saw me persevering through my struggle and continuing my faith, and he blessed me because of it. I now feel stronger than ever, and confident in my ability to continue not only with my activities, but with my faith as well. Even if trying times fall upon me again, I will know now more than ever that I am not alone, and that God will be my savior.

In the end, I think that my struggle can be related to the struggles of many people in our community. I also maintain that, with faith, difficult situations can always be overcome.

Dear God: Thank You for being my light these past few months. You have helped me through difficult times and been a rock in my life. Without You, I don’t know how I would have been able to fight through my struggles, but because of You, I made it. You gave me a break when I needed it most, and I am grateful. Amen
