Lenten Devotions Day 36

Posted by Sadie Wilt, Student on

“I have chosen you and not cast you off; do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

I had to choose a verse for Faith Formation class, and I chose the one above because I think it really applies to how we should live our life and our faith in the Lord. Everyone fears something in their life, whether it’s getting perfect grades in school, not getting sick, not winning an important sports game, or just forgetting to do your homework. I personally fear myself and loved ones dying. I love my family and friends and I don’t want my life or theirs to end. The thought of death really scares me.

So, whenever I think of death and start to fear it all over again, I remind myself that our lives are gifts from God. We should live them to the fullest and not let fear take over. Each day is like a clean slate with the opportunity to start over and fix our mistakes. I try not to take those clean slates for granted because we can never get that certain day back again. Sometimes when I think of this, I try to cram everything I want to do into that one day because I don’t want to waste any minute of it. Yet, when I find myself doing this, I’m not having as much fun as I could have. I try to slow things down and enjoy what God have given me. We shouldn’t live our lives and days in fear of what’s coming. We should trust in God because He trusts in us. Maybe His plan for me might not be exactly what I have in mind, but I have faith in the Lord that everything will work out. In the past, I have gotten through hard times and I can again, with God at my side.

Prayer: Fearless Lord, thank You for always watching over us and bringing us out of our fears. In Your name we pray. Amen.
