Lenten Devotion day 28 - Tuesday, April 2, 2019

“You have shown me the path to life, and you make me glad by being near to me. Sitting at your right side, I will always be joyful.”

Psalms 16:11

Life is not always easy, nor is it simple. I just recently changed my job partly due to no longer being happy in the job that I was at. It was frightening as I had worked at the same company for the last 18 years. While working there the unhappiness that I felt was working its way into other areas of my life, and I could see it affecting my family. During this time, I prayed that God would give me direction and show me what I might be able to do to get back to a joyful place. I finally decided that my current job was too much for me and I needed to leave and find something new. Eventually, I was presented with not one, but two different job offers. I felt truly blessed to have an answer to my prayers.

During this time God showed me that there are a lot of things in my life to be joyful about. My wife who supported me when I told her that I wanted to leave my job, my two boys who showed excitement in the possibilities of the new job offers. My parents who questioned my choice but let me know they wanted me to be happy. My many friends that supported me and were excited to see the new direction that my life was taking, and the people that saw something in me that they wanted to have in their workplace.

I know that God has been near me all my life, I see his works in this and other areas of my life. I know whenever I might need someone to listen or to guide me, I can turn to Him and in my time of need He shows me the way to live, and to be joyful.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for showing us the path to life, thank you for helping us through the times when we need help, and thank you for giving us all the moments that make us glad and joyful.  Amen.
