Since last month’s update, there has been a significant amount of effort invested in working with the Northwest Synod. The review and outreach of the 31 pastors shortlisted from the more than 50 we started with has been an eye-opening experience. I am happy to share that of the 31, we have eight strong candidates that will continue in the interview process.

To provide a little insight into the effort underway, many of the pastors we had interest in speaking with required the permission of the local synod leadership in each territory across the United States. Many thanks to Pastor Randy Olson who led this effort from our synod on our behalf. The amount of time needed to contact by phone, to follow up with each synod and then each candidate,
has been significant to say the least.

We anticipate a three-step interview process. The first interview process, we plan to have competed by the middle of September and hope to complete the third round of final interviews by the middle to end of October. The Call Committee hopes to move as quickly as is reasonably possible, but also concede that we are subject to God’s plan.
