Lenten Devotions Day 26

Posted by Lawson Ludeman, Student on

“Whatever you do, work at it with all of your heart, as working for the Lord not for men. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Colossians 3:23-24

The wonderful new year of 2023 has brought joy and discipline to me. With me turning the big 14, I have a lot more responsibilities, one of them being a job and obviously school. I picked this verse because it gives me a perspective on work ethic, and how you start your days. Another way to understand this verse is, it is not how many hours you put in but how much you put into the hours.

In the book of Colossians, Paul was writing to the Christians living in the town of Colossae while in prison. The whole book of Colossians is about emphasizing the important role Jesus Christ plays in God’s plan of salvation and how Christians are thoroughly united with Christ.

I am a Christian and have been my whole life. Every Sunday before the pandemic, my family would go to church and worship God. I would go to Sunday School and have a lot of fun. Now that I am older, I have a new role in church which is helping out at the services. This has made me feel more connected to God because I am helping the church with communion and the offering, which many of the people at those church services did not get to experience when they were my age. This is also a great way to get to know the people in your church and just have fun. I really enjoy waking up on the first Sunday of each month at 8 o’clock in the morning and going to serve my God at His church. It fills my heart with joy and courage for that week.

Prayer: Dear God, help us this week to work for You with all of our heart. Amen.
